wake up. stumble onto patio. open pack. fish out smoke. put smoke between lips. grab lighter. lift to cigarette. pause. stare crosseyed at smoke. flip cigarette horizontally with filter in mouth this time. lift lighter to cigarette. light. take a glorious drag. pull cigarette out of mouth......

....and take a small but significant piece of lip skin with it.

curse while smoking rest of cigarette.

make plans to tongue it for the rest of the day even though it stings.
